Top Browser For Android In 2020

Choosing the “Best Browser” title for any particular browser is difficult for me, as I have used twenty different browsers available on Google Play. However, I have tested these browsers as my daily browser for android and selected eight that I believe offer the best browsing experience. Let’s take a closer look at these eight browsers.

Chrome

Google Chrome

Introduction

Google Chrome is a widely used web browser that is highly popular in the market. When it comes to finding a reliable web browser for Android, Google Chrome is usually the first choice for many people. It comes pre-installed on many Android devices, and people often continue to use it without exploring other alternatives.

It’s a Google Product

Google Chrome is a highly popular web browser that is widely used on Android devices. It is considered one of the best browsers for Android because of its seamless integration with other Google products. Once you log in with your Google account on Chrome, it automatically syncs your bookmarks, passwords, and settings across all your devices. This means that you can access your browsing history, bookmarks, and passwords on any device where you have signed in with the same Google account. The syncing capability of Chrome is one of its strongest features.

Design

Chrome boasts a sleek and elegant material design layout that is user-friendly and easy to navigate. You can quickly find what you need in the app. The settings are intuitive and simple to use – just tap on the vertical three dots in the upper right corner and select “Settings.” Here, you can access all the necessary settings and customize them to your liking.

Private Browsing (Incognito Mode)

Incognito Mode in Google Chrome does not provide complete anonymity on the internet. It only helps to prevent your browsing history, cookies, and cache from being stored on your device. Your internet service provider (ISP) and the websites you visit can still track your activity. To achieve complete anonymity, you may need to use a virtual private network (VPN) or other privacy-focused tools.

Security

Google Chrome is a secure web browser that offers protection against various types of online threats such as infected websites, malware, and pop-ups. It provides a warning sign Chrome-Non-HTTPS-Signwhen you visit a non-HTTPS website, indicating that the site is not secure and doesn’t use encryption. This helps to prevent your sensitive information, like personal or credit card information, from being compromised.

Privacy

Google Chrome has faced criticism in the past over privacy concerns. It has been fined by some European countries for processing information without the user’s consent. When you log in to Chrome and sync your browsing activity, you allow Google to access and use your data. Therefore, if you prioritize your privacy, then Chrome may not be the best browser for you.

My Thought

Despite its privacy concerns, Google Chrome remains the most widely used and popular web browser across all platforms, including Android.

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge

Introduction

Microsoft Edge is a web browser for Android that is gaining popularity due to its fast performance and sleek design. It was initially released for Windows 10 and Xbox One in 2015, and later for Android and iOS in 2017, and macOS in 2019.

One of the best features of Edge is its clean and organized user interface, which makes navigation easy and intuitive. The browser also offers a range of customization options, allowing users to personalize their experience to their liking.

It’s a Microsoft Product

Edge’s integration with Windows 10 is one of its biggest advantages. It allows for seamless syncing of browsing history, passwords, and other settings across devices. For those who use a Windows 10 PC, using Edge on their Android device would be a logical choice for a consistent browsing experience

Design

In terms of design, Edge stands out as it has a user-friendly interface that makes browsing easier. The bottom panel is a handy feature that allows you to go back and forth, access the menu, and manage tabs. This eliminates the need to scroll all the way up to access the list, making it easy to use with one hand.

Performance

Edge is surprisingly fast. It’s hard to appreciate how fast it is until you use it. When I started using Edge, I was pleasantly surprised by its speed. I wasn’t expecting much from Edge, but it exceeded my expectations. The rendering was excellent, and everything felt snappy and responsive. The overall experience was fantastic.

Private Browsing

InPrivate mode is a privacy feature in Edge that allows you to browse the web without storing any data on your device. When you browse in this mode, Edge won’t save your browsing history, cookies, form data, or any other data that could be used to track your online activities. This can be useful when you’re using a shared device or browsing sensitive information.

Security

Microsoft Edge is a web browser that offers a seamless browsing experience, thanks to its fast and secure features. It is designed to block unwanted pop-ups, malware, and infected websites to ensure your device is safe from malicious attacks. Additionally, it utilizes AdBlock Plus, a powerful tool that helps to block annoying and unwanted ads.

This feature enables you to enjoy a faster browsing experience while avoiding ads that may increase page load times or interfere with your browsing activities. With Microsoft Edge, you can browse the web with ease and confidence, knowing that your device is protected from potential security threats.

Privacy

While it’s true that Windows 10 has received criticism in the past regarding privacy issues, it’s important to note that Microsoft has taken steps to improve user privacy settings and transparency in recent years. That being said, Microsoft Edge does have some integration with Windows 10, which could potentially lead to data being sent from your PC. However, it’s worth considering that many of us use Microsoft products with this same risk, and it’s up to each individual user to decide how comfortable they are with their data being shared.

My Thought

Microsoft Edge is indeed a modern web browser that offers fast and secure browsing with features such as InPrivate mode, AdBlock Plus, and seamless integration with Windows 10. However, like most technology products, it may have some privacy concerns, and users should weigh the benefits and risks before using it. Ultimately, the choice of a web browser depends on personal preferences and needs.

Firefox

Firefox

Introduction

Firefox is indeed a well-known web browser and has gained a reputation for being a fast and reliable browser for both desktop and mobile platforms. It is known for its open-source approach and commitment to user privacy, making it a popular choice for users who are conscious about their online security. In fact, Firefox’s built-in privacy features such as enhanced tracking protection and encrypted DNS have earned it a good reputation in the privacy community.

In terms of speed, Firefox has improved significantly in recent years and has surpassed Google Chrome in some benchmarks. It is also known for being lightweight and having a small memory footprint, which makes it a good choice for older devices or those with limited resources.

While there are other browsers available for Android that may be faster than Firefox, they often come with significant security concerns. In contrast, Firefox’s focus on user privacy and security makes it a reliable choice for those who value these features.

Design and Features

Firefox is known for its privacy features, and it gives users a lot of control over their data. You can easily manage the cache, browsing history, cookies, and downloaded files. It even allows you to clear all of your private data with a single tap. Additionally, there is a pop-up blocker enabled by default, but you can turn it off in the settings if you prefer.

If you want to sync your browsing activities between your desktop and Android devices, you can sign in using your Firefox account. This feature lets you bring all your bookmarks, passwords, and other data to your Android device seamlessly.

Firefox also has a built-in Private Browsing mode that enables you to browse the web without storing any history, cookies, or cache. This mode helps protect your privacy and prevents you from being tracked by websites.

Secure and Open Source

Firefox’s commitment to privacy is one of its standout features. As an open-source browser, it prioritizes user privacy more than commercial browsers like Chrome and Edge. Its anti-tracking feature prevents users from being tracked by third-party organizations, which not only slows down browsing but also raises concerns about data privacy.

Firefox’s Tracking Protection is enabled by default in Private Browsing, but users can also enable it in normal browsing mode by enabling the Do Not Track option in the settings. By blocking trackers, Firefox provides a faster and more secure browsing experience.

My Thought

If you want an all-around performer, then you can choose Firefox. It is a fast, reliable, and secure web browser with more control over your online activities.

Brave Browser

Brave Browser

Introduction

The Brave Browser for Android is a relatively new addition to the market, having been introduced in 2016. It boasts a range of features and is based on the open-source Chromium browser. The browser’s user interface is designed to be clean and easy to navigate, with all the typical elements you would expect to find in a browser.

Design

Brave is an incredibly lightweight browser that is highly optimized for both speed and battery life, making it stand out from other browsers. It uses fewer system resources and less RAM compared to other browsers, which results in a smoother browsing experience. Additionally, Brave offers all the features of a modern browser along with extra privacy controls, making it a significant asset for privacy-conscious users.

Business Model

Brave has a unique business model that sets it apart from other browsers. It is designed to block ads and trackers more efficiently than any other Android browser. However, the company recognizes that blocking ads can impact the revenue of websites and content creators.

To address this issue, Brave has developed an innovative way to make money. Users can sign up for the Brave Rewards program and earn BAT tokens for viewing ads that Brave selects to show instead of the ads displayed on the website.

When you sign up for their reward program, you have the option to allocate a portion of the ad revenue generated by the ads Brave displays to the websites you visit most frequently. You can also earn tokens for yourself, which you can use to “tip” the websites of your choice.

Security and Privacy

Brave’s top priority is to protect the privacy of its users. The browser comes equipped with several privacy features, including an in-built ad-blocker, HTTPS Everywhere, Fingerprint Protection, and Tracking Protection. Additionally, Brave blocks third-party cookies and scripts to provide users with extra protection.

These privacy features make Brave a highly secure web browser, ensuring that users can browse the internet without worrying about being tracked or having their personal information compromised.

My Thought

Brave is a secure, speedy, and reliable browser that effectively blocks ads and trackers, providing users with a higher degree of online anonymity. Despite this, its ad-blocking approach and the opt-in model for the Brave Rewards program have raised eyebrows in the world of internet browsing.

It remains to be seen if this strategy will maintain its momentum over the long term, but for now, it appears that Brave’s privacy features and user-centric approach have resonated with a significant portion of internet users.

Opera With Free VPN

Opera

Introduction

Opera is a well-established name in the world of web browsers and has been a popular choice among mobile users for many years. Its dominance in the mobile industry has been undisputed, and it continues to provide an excellent browsing experience for users today.

Opera is known for its speed, rich set of features, and user-friendly interface, which has been its hallmark. A unique feature of the browser is that it comes with a built-in VPN, but it only works within the Opera browser itself and not as a system-wide VPN.

Design

Opera stands out from other Android web browsers with its sleek and modern design, which sets it apart in terms of aesthetics and user experience. It features a user-friendly design that makes browsing more straightforward and enjoyable.

In addition to its excellent design, Opera comes equipped with several useful features, including a built-in AdBlocker, free unlimited VPN, Night Mode, and Private Browsing options.

The browser also offers a range of customization options, allowing users to tweak various settings to their liking. Users can change the homepage icon size, enable/disable Night Mode, choose a theme and app layout in the Appearance settings, and even change the download folder, among other things.

Security with VPN

Opera is a secure and privacy-focused web browser for Android that effectively blocks ads and trackers, resulting in faster web page loading times. By blocking third-party tracking, Opera helps users maintain their privacy and avoid being tracked by online advertisers and other third-party organizations.

The built-in VPN in Opera can be used in both normal browsing and private browsing modes, providing an additional layer of security and anonymity for users. While the VPN is not a pure VPN, it uses a proxy to hide the user’s IP address or replace it with a virtual one, making the user more anonymous on the web.

My Thought

Opera’s VPN is widely regarded as one of the easiest VPNs to use in the market. If you are looking for a web browser for Android that has all the essential features and some extras, like a VPN, then Opera Browser is a great option to consider.

While it is not a pure VPN, users can easily connect and browse without any limitations to get the job done. However, if you require a full-fledged VPN service, you may want to consider other VPNs available on the market.

Firefox Lite

Firefox Lite

Introduction

Firefox Lite is a fast and user-friendly web browser designed specifically for Android devices. It is a lightweight version of Firefox, weighing in at just 4MB in size, making it easy to install and use even on devices with limited storage capacity. Despite its small size, Firefox Lite offers all the essential features of a modern web browser for Android, including bookmarking, tabbed browsing, and a private browsing mode.

Design

Upon installing Firefox Lite, the user interface stands out as a beautiful and clean design, with all controls located at the bottom of the screen. This layout makes navigation easy, particularly on larger-screen devices.

Despite its small size, Firefox Lite still offers all the essential features required in a modern web browser for Android, such as Night Mode, Turbo Mode, Block Images, Private Tab, and Clear Cache. Firefox Lite is a great option for low-end devices with smaller storage capacities.

I like this browser. Especially these four features:

  • Turbo Mode
  • Night Mode
  • Block Images
  • Private Tab

Turbo Mode

Firefox Lite’s Turbo Mode can give you a boost by saving data and processing web pages faster. This feature reduces the data size of web pages and can save you money if you are on a limited data plan. Additionally, pages will load faster due to data compression and optimization.

Night Mode

Firefox Lite’s Night Mode is a useful feature that can reduce eye strain in low-light environments. When enabled, it darkens the upper and bottom parts of the browser interface and reduces the overall brightness. This can make browsing more comfortable, especially at night or in low-light conditions. The brightness can be adjusted to your liking to further customize the experience. While it may not be a significant feature, it can come in handy in certain situations.

Block Images

Block Images is a great feature for those who want to save data and load pages faster. It is also helpful when you are in a slow network area and want to quickly browse through text-based pages without having to wait for images to load.

Private Tab

Private Tab is a useful feature for those who want to browse the web without leaving any traces on their device. However, it’s important to note that it doesn’t provide complete anonymity on the web, as your internet service provider (ISP) and the websites you visit can still track your activity. It’s also worth mentioning that using Private Tab doesn’t protect you from malware or phishing attempts, so it’s still important to be cautious and use other security measures to protect yourself online.

My Thought

Firefox Lite is indeed a good option for those who are looking for a lightweight and efficient web browser on their Android device. Its user-friendly interface and essential features make it an ideal choice for low-end devices or those with limited storage.

Opera Mini

Opera Mini

Introduction

Opera Mini is a data-saving browser that compresses web pages and reduces the amount of data transferred to your device. This feature makes it a great option for users who have limited data plans or slow internet connections.

Opera Mini also has a built-in ad blocker, which not only saves data but also speeds up web page loading times. It also has a feature called “Offline Pages,” which allows you to save web pages to read later without an internet connection.

Overall, Opera Mini is a great option for users who want to save data and have a faster browsing experience.

Design

Opera Mini is a very lightweight browser that has been around for a long time. It is known for its ability to save data and money, which makes it a great choice for those who have limited data plans or pay-as-you-go. Despite its small size, Opera Mini still has all the essential features of a modern web browser.

The user interface is clean and minimalistic, making it easy to navigate, similar to Opera VPN. Opera Mini includes built-in Private Mode, AdBlocker, Night Mode, App Layout, Fullscreen Mode, Data Saving, and Themes. The theme option offers six different colors, including Red, Green, Blue, Purple, Gray, and Black, which give the browser a fresh look and feel.

AdBlocker

I am also a big fan of Opera Mini because of its exceptional data-saving capabilities. The AdBlocker integrated into the browser is incredibly effective and can block most ads, resulting in faster page loading and significant data savings. Ads can be a nuisance and cause pages to load slowly, negatively impacting the browsing experience. If you come across pages that are overloaded with ads, turning on the AdBlocker feature can help you save both time and money.

Data Savings

Opera Mini is a great option if you want to minimize your data usage and browsing costs. However, it is worth noting that its extreme data-saving feature can affect the quality of a page. This feature breaks down the CSS of a web page, allowing for faster loading times and data savings. In the Data Saving option, you can adjust the Image Quality. In extreme mode, you can even turn off images entirely to save even more data.

Private Browsing

Opera Mini comes with a Private Browsing mode that enables users to browse the web privately. This feature allows you to browse without saving any history, cache, or cookies on your device. This way, you can keep your browsing activity private and secure.

My Thought

If you have a slow or limited internet connection, I highly recommend trying out Opera Mini. It’s a fast and secure web browser for Android that excels at data saving. Its data-saving feature is so effective that no other Android browser can match it. Opera Mini also has a Private Browsing mode that allows you to browse the web without storing any browsing history, cache, or cookies.

Ecosia Browser

Ecosia

Introduction

Ecosia is primarily known for its search engine, but it also offers a browser for both iOS and Android devices. This browser has a unique purpose – to support reforestation efforts worldwide. Ecosia donates 80% of its profits towards planting trees, making it a socially and environmentally conscious choice for those who want to make a positive impact while browsing the web.

Business Model

Ecosia is a search engine that generates revenue through ads, and the same applies to its browser. The browser is built on Chromium and has all the necessary features you’d expect from a modern Android web browser.

However, Ecosia’s browser lacks a synchronization option for using multiple devices. Additionally, you cannot change the default search engine because Ecosia uses the revenue generated from your searches to plant trees. For every 45 searches conducted through Ecosia, they use the profit to plant a tree. If you use another search engine, Ecosia will not receive the revenue required to plant trees, and thus, the default search engine cannot be changed.

Security and Privacy

Ecosia is a web browser that is known for being safe and secure. The company claims that they do not store users’ search queries permanently or sell their data. Every search is encrypted using a secure connection. They do not use any external tracking tools to track user activity.

According to Ecosia’s privacy policy, they only collect a small amount of data to improve their services. Users can also choose to turn off this feature by enabling the Do Not Track feature in the settings. While Google collects a vast amount of data, some may argue that collecting a small amount of data is not worth compromising privacy.

Ecosia and Microsoft

Ecosia is a legitimate search engine and browser that has gained a positive reputation for its commitment to sustainability and privacy. While it is true that Ecosia uses Bing to display search results, this does not make it unsafe or a scam. In fact, Ecosia has implemented several measures to ensure the privacy and security of its users, as mentioned earlier. Overall, Ecosia is a reliable and ethical option for those who want to use a search engine and browser that supports the environment.

My Thought

Do I recommend this browser? Yes! Not because I like this browser or search engine, but because it helps the world. Trees are a must to maintain the ecosystem. I believe that technology should be used for good. If you use this browser, your searches will help the world and our ecosystem.

Conclusion

The most commonly used app on an Android smartphone is a web browser. There are many different browsers available for Android, but not all of them can meet every user’s needs. For example, the UC Browser is fast but not very secure.

In November 2017, Google Play temporarily removed the UC Browser due to concerns about the browser sending personal data. However, the browser was later made available again.

To help you choose the best browser for Android, I have compiled a list of the top browsers that cover all the necessary features and capabilities of a modern browser. You can try each one and decide which one works best for you.

Which Web Browser do you use the most? Is it still Google Chrome or something else? Let me know in the comment section below. I would love to know about it.
